Become a Teaching Innovation Fellowships Advisor

Play a vital role in supporting teachers to lead innovation and change.

The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership is seeking expressions of interest from former principals from government, Catholic and Independent Schools to undertake the role of fellowship advisors supporting teachers undertaking the 12 month Teaching Innovation Fellowships.

The Teaching Innovation Fellowships (TIF) provide Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) alumni with funding and support to design and lead transformative teaching and professional learning projects in their schools. Teacher fellows will start their fellowship in February 2024 and will complete it by December 2024.

Role Description

Fellowship advisors contribute to the teacher fellows’ learning experience through a collaborative and supportive approach. Fellowship advisors will work in partnership with the Academy team to assist teacher fellows in navigating and meeting fellowship requirements. 


The fellowship advisor role involves: 

  • guiding teacher fellows to enhance the quality of their innovation projects
  • coaching teacher fellows to engage in reflective practice
  • offering observations, feedback or educational input to help strengthen their project implementation
  • working with the Academy team to support teacher fellows to meet learning and reporting requirements
  • contributing to assessment and evaluation of the Fellowships program
  • evaluating teachers’ applications or written submissions
  • participating in professional learning as required by the Academy. 

Commitment

Fellowship advisors can be assigned to guide teacher fellows in up to 4 different projects and provide a total of 6 advisories to the teacher fellow(s) within each project. 

Fellowship advisors will be assigned to a project based on assessed suitability and location. 

Fellowship advisor requirements

To be considered for the role you must:

  • be a retired principal who is not currently employed in the teaching or public service 
  • have capacity to be an advisor in up to 4 projects at one time 
  • provide suitable availability during the outlined advisory dates 
  • have a valid ABN.
