The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership (Academy) collects information, that includes personal and health information, for the purpose of facilitating registrations to undertake professional learning. 

The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership (the Academy) collects information, including personal and health information, for the purpose of facilitating registrations for professional learning. 

This information includes, but is not limited to:

  • name
  • email address
  • organization
  • position
  • years of experience
  • whether you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • accessibility needs
  • ethnicity 
  • gender
  • age.

The information provided will be used to ensure all participants have equal access to professional learning; for demographic reporting purposes; and to assess whether the Academy’s offerings are inclusive and representative of the education workforce. 

The Academy will disclose this information to service providers contracted to deliver professional learning for the purpose of facilitating the delivery of courses and materials, and to other service providers (such as facility support services) for the purpose of delivering the programs. 

Information may also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of Academy professional learning. It will be accessed only by Academy staff involved in quality review and evaluation and by the service provider that conducts impact evaluations on the Academy’s behalf. 

Participants' contact details may be shared with relevant Department of Education staff or contracted service providers, for the purpose of facilitating further professional development opportunities; or for a related secondary purpose for which the individual would reasonably expect the Academy to use or disclose information.

Personal information – including name, email and school – of prospective participants from Catholic and Independent schools will be shared with Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) and Independent Schools Victoria (ISV) respectively. This will allow VCEA and ISV to contact these prospective participants to discuss their learning needs and ensure participation in relevant professional learning. 

Materials produced by participants as part of any professional learning, such as online portfolios, recordings and similar products, may be accessed and used by the Academy for the purpose of supporting and assessing progress; evaluation of professional learning; promotion; collation of best-practice examples; and similar uses.

Information will be securely stored by a service provider contracted to administer registrations for Academy professional learning. Data security and privacy compliance of this service and service provider has been assessed in line with the Department of Education’s privacy assessment standards.

Individuals have a right to request access to, and correct, their personal and health information held by the Academy. Most requests to access and/or correct information held by the Academy are processed in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
